THE BUZZ HOCKEY ACADEMY. Have Fun – Learn Techniques – Develop Skills.
In 2011, Graham Shaw and Gordon Watkins came together to set up The Buzz Hockey Academy. Having run successful camps at half term, Easter and summer holidays, the pair plan to stage even more camps during school holidays. At BHA, children will meet new friends in a fun filled environment, with an action-packed programme.
THE ACADEMY
Our aim is that all players, firstly, enjoy themselves in a safe environment, and then with good coaching, ultimately leave the Academy as better players, hopefully with a desire to improve further. Some of our coaches will include both senior and underage international players, and all have attained at least Level 1 and have done the Code of Ethics.
GORDON WATKINS
Gordon is a former Irish International, and has coached Hermes LHC, Trinity Men and Muckross Ladies at club level. He was also Head Coach of the Colts section in Monkstown HC for 10 years, and coached in Hermes Fillies for 5 years with much success. He won the inaugural IHA Youth Development Coach of the Year Award in 2007 He retired from his last coaching position in Holy Child School, Killiney in 2019. He is also a tutor with IHA for prospective coaches up to level 1.
